membrane devWork has begun on adding a membrane keypad to the RaspiRowing projects, to extend the input options available to the user.

I chose the membrane keypad since its very thin, virually flat and has a sticky back, ideal for mouting on the front of a Concept2 Performance Monitor.

Each clickable button is connected to the flexible tail which leads to a row of pins for easy access and an absolute breeze for developing as you can see from the picture, I had it neatly linked to the Raspberry Pi GPIO header via a breadboard some male to female wires and pull up resistors.

I want to eventually move away from having to use a conventional pc keyboard, but the negative side is that there is only 4 buttons, which is quite limiting, and obviously no mouse either, but there a more larger matrix membranes available which could be an option to move towards in the future.
